Longsheng Longji Rice Terraces (Spring)

Being reputed as “second to none” in the world, Longji Rice Terraces is a beautiful natural picture. With a history of more than 700 years, the area is still being used for growing premium quality rice by Yao and Zhuang villagers. The linked rice terraces vary from season to season. In spring, the water is irrigated into the fields and they look like great chains or ribbons hung on the hillsides. The Rice Terraces are much prettier after the rain or being harvested.

Li River (Summer)

The beautiful Li River is the connecting waterway between Guilin City and Yangshuo County, which originates on the Maoer Mountain northeast of Guilin. The 83-km-long waterway from Guilin to Yangshuo is the masterpiece of Li River, decorated with rolling hills, steep cliffs, fantastic caves, leisurely boats and lined bamboos which is just like enjoying a melodious symphony. The local farmers feed the birds for fish catching. They tie a string around the bird's neck just right enough so that that it cannot swallow the fish it may catch.

It will take about 5 hours to cruise Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo. As the most beautiful scenery is mostly on the second half of the trip, don’t get too excited at the very beginning of the cruise, or you may run out of memory cards for the best landscape.

YaoShan (Autumn)

Yao Mountain is the highest mountain of Guilin, with the main peak reaching an altitude of 909.3 meters (2,983 feet). Lying 10 kilometers (6 miles) northeast of the city center, it is a wonderful site to have a bird's-eye view of beautiful Guilin City, embraced by the winding Li River. The Hill has several places of interest including Yao Temple, White Deer Temple, Jade Breast Pond and Tianci Field.

In autumn the red maples with falling leaves make the hill appear as though it's a fire.
