Latest COVID Travel Policy for Sanya, Hainan on December 17 2021

Sanya is a paradise for those who like sunshine, beach, sea and water sports and a good escape for cold winter. However before we go enjoying the holidays, checking the COVID travel policy is a must!


If you have plan for  Sanya visit, this article is quite important for you. Please check the bellowing details for your Sanya Tour


1. If you are from Middle and High Risk region

High Risk Areas

Inner Mongolia: 7 places

Zhejiang: 5 places


Mid Risk Areas

Shanghai: 1 place

Inner Mongolia: 4 places

Heilongjiang: 9 places

Shaanxi: 8 places

Zhejiang: 25 places

Anhui: 1 place

Guangdong: 8 places


If you have travelled or stayed in these areas during past 14 days, centralized quarantine is needed. Free COVID test will be provided on the 1st and 13th day. After the quarantine is over, you will need to stay in home for additional 7 days. Free COVID test will be provided again when it's done. If you have any symptoms of fever or cough, please contact the docter and need to report your travel history.


2. If you are in Risk related Region

Those regions are all risk related regions

Yunnan Province Dehong Dai Ethnic Jingpo Ethnic Autonomous Prefecture

Shanghai City Pudong New District

Inner Mongolia Hulun Buir City   

Heilongjiang Province Harbin City, Qiqihar City 

Zhejiang Province Ningbo City, Hangzhou City, Shaoxing City

Guangxi Chongzuo City

Guangdong Province Dongguan City

Shaanxi Province Xi'an City

Anhui Province Suzhou City


General Policy:

1. Two Covid Test Reports within 48 hours Before Departure

2. Additional test upon arrival at airport

3. Report to Local Community and 2 tests within 3 days


If you have been to Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang Province and these risk related areas for past 14 days, you will need to provide  2 COVID test reports within 48 hours (each test for 24 hours) of your flight to Sanya. If you are taking transitting flights, then the 2 test reports need to be ready for your 2nd flight time. For the report, both paper or electronic versions will be OK. If you don't have 2 reports within 48 hours, you will not be allowed to board on the flight. If infants (under 36 months) cannot provide the report, s/he could do a COVID test upon arrival in Sanya and leave.


For travelers who have traveled or stayed in Inner Mongolia or Heilongjiang, except the 2 test report within 48 hours before departure, still need to do an additional COVID test upon arrival in Sanya and wait for the result.


For travelers who fly from Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shanghai, need to do an additional COVID test upon arrival in Sanya and leave.


For travelers who have been to Shanghai for past 14 days but without traveling or staying in Shanghai Pudong New District, but need to go to Pudong Airport to fly or transitting, you are not considered to from risk related areas. Please sign a paper of commitment.


After arrival in Sanya, you will do another COVID test at airport and report your travel history to local community and need to do 2 tests within 3 days. During this time, if there is no need, please do not go out. You will be offered 2 free COVID tests on the 7th and 14th day.


Stopover/transitting flights in risk related areas:

1. If it's a stopover flight, if all the passengers on the flight have never been to risk related areas, you are not considered to from risk related areas.

2. If it's a transitting flight, as long as your green arrow shows you have traveled or stayed in any risk related areas, please follow above policy.


Flights delayed in risk related areas or for passengers who have traveled/stayed in risk related areas:

1. If the delay is less than 12 hours, but you have never left the airport, you could still board on the flight with previous COVID test reports.

2. If the delay is more than 12 hours but you have never left the airport, you could still board on the flight but need to do additional COVID test upon arrival in Sanya. If you have left the airport and entered risk related areas, you will be required to provide 2 tests report within 48 hours.


For travelers who enter Sanya via train:

If you board the train from risk related areas or if your green arrow shows you have traveled/stayed in risk related areas, please bring 2 COVID tests report within 48 hours (each test for 24 hours) to baord on the train. After arrival, you will need to do another COVID test and will need to wait for the result and leave. Please do additional 2 tests within 3 days. Infants (under 24 months) could board on the train with fellow passengers (parents, families, etc.).


3. If you are from low risk (Safe area)

Travelers who have never been to mid/high risk areas or risk related areas,Please use Hainan Green Code or green arrow to enter Hainan and provide COVID test report within 48 hours.

Please report to local community after arrival and obey local COVID policy. 


For traveler who justed entre mainland China from Hongkong or Macau, please check the bellowing

Travellers entre mainland China from Hongkong

General Policy:

14+7+7

14 days centralized quarantine

7 days centralized  obeservation

7 days self obeservation at home (do not go out if necessary; do not take public transportation)


Travelers entre mainland China from Macau

Travelers who have stayed or traveled in Macau for last 14 days, Please use Hainan Health Code or green arrow or Personal Health Declarationo to enter. In the meantime, COVID test report within 7 days before/after entry is needed.
