Jiuzhai Valley is a national park located in the Minshan Mountain range, Northern Sichuan. It's a worldwide famous attraction site untill the earthquake in 2017. For the sake of safty, the park is closed to travelers since then. After a long period of restoration, the park is finally ready to lift its mysterious veil to the whole world again!
Magical Jiuzhai Valley
As an UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jiuzhai Valley will have its trial opening on Sept. 23, and it will officially open on Oct. 1.
Jiuzhai Valley is famous for its “Six Wonders”, including lakes, waterfalls, forests, snow peak, Tibetan culture and frozen waterfalls.
Scene of Four Seasons
Distinct four seasons offer unique sceneries to visitors: spring with blooming flowers, summer with greens, autumn with colorful forest, winter with snow and icy waterfall.
Water (lakes, waterfalls, pools, etc) is the soul of Jiuzhai Valley. There is a local saying: After visiting Jiuzhai Valley, other water scene is nothing to speak of.
Reopened Areas
The reopened areas are mainly scenic spots along the route from Goukou to Long Lake. Five of the attractions are accessible by walking only.
Five-Color Pool
Five-Color Pool, with the most abundant colors, is the smallest Haizi in Jiuzhai Valley. It reflects various colors under sunlight and different weather. Travelers are always astonished by its purity.
Long Lake
Located at the end of Zezhawa Valley, the crescent-shaped Long Lake is over 100 meters deep. It is at the highest altitude and has the widest surface area of all Jiuzhai Valley’s lakes. This is the highest point visitors will reach in the park. In winter the frozen surface ice can be as thick as 60cm.
Nuorilang Waterfall
Nuorilang Waterfall, with 270 meters' width, is one of the largest calcified and the widest waterfalls in China. The ending of Journey to the West (1986 version) was shoot here.
Shuzheng Lakes
Shuzheng Lakes consists of 19 lakes of varied sizes. Among these lakes, grow dense groves of willows, poplars, pines, spruces and other plants. This wonderful scenery is considered to be the “epitome of Jiuzhai Valley” and it is one of most popular sites in the park.
Double-dragon Lake
Through the crystal lake, you can see two long calcified reefs in the bottom, looking like two dragons hidden in the lake, thus, getting the name Double-dragon Lake.
