About the NCP in Tibet

By 24:00 on February 9, Tibet had reported ONLY 1 confirmed case of NCP.

Till today, there had been no new or suspected cases in Tibet for the past twelve consecutive days.

Why?

Tibet is situated in the very west China, far from the bustling cities. Due to its long distance, there are few foreign population/workers, making it more difficult for the virus carriers to enter Tibet.

At the same time, Tibet is located on the Tibetan Plateau. People with poor physical conditions won't be able to adapt to the altitude sickness easily, so the difficulty of entering the Tibet is quite high.

Therefore, Tibet is isolated from coronavirus carriers due to its special geographical conditions.

Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is also the place with the strongest solar radiation in China. Lhasa has the reputation of "Sunshine City". The total annual solar radiation in Lhasa is 190 kcal per square meter, and the annual sunshine time is about 3000 hours.

The intense sunlight reduces the production of harmful viruses and bacteria.

The local government of Tibet has made full preparations for the virus. Due to its characteristics of the plateau hypoxia and limited medical resources, the treatment and rehabilitation of the condition will be relatively slow if there is large outbreak.

Therefore, the Tibetan government has taken precautions in advance to prevent the occurrence and spread of epidemic diseases.

News of the NCP

Until 11:00 Feb. 10, 40,235 cases of novel coronavirus were confirmed in China, among which 909 died, and 3291 were cured and discharged. There are still 23,589 suspected cases.
