Weather in Shigatse

Shigatse has a semi-arid plateau temperate monsoon climate. From November to April, the temperature in Shigatse will be relatively lower. June to July is considered the temperate rainy season. During this period, it rains much at night. If you plan to visit Shigatse specifically to see Mount Everest, April through June, Sept to Oct. are the best time to visit. Dressing:

Spring (March - May)

It is better to bring ordinary thermal clothing. You should be prepared with a variety of sunscreens, sunglasses and lip-balms to protect them from the rays.

Summer (June - August)

Everest Base Camp and other high altitude areas need ordinary thermal clothing. In downtown, long sleeve trousers, single clothes would be enough. Sunglasses and sun protection hat are very good sun protection equipment.

Autumn (September - November)

Wear light down jackets and windproof clothes while in Autumn. The sunburn prevention lotions, sun blinkers (which are better if they can prevent the snow-blind) and lipsticks are quite necessary.

Winter (December - February)

Thick warm down jacket, windproof clothes, warm hat, scarf, gloves are highly recommended. If possible, moisturizing skin care products are also suggested.
