This bike route is along the north-south axis of Beijing, starting from the Arrow Tower (JianLou) at Desheng Gate (Deshengmen), passing by the Olympic Park and then back to Desheng Gate. We will follow the route: Deshengmen East Aveneu-Gulouwai Avenue-Beichen Road-Beichen East Road-Kehui Road-Beitucheng Road-Desheng Gate. We will start from Desheng Gate. Following the Deshengmen East Avenue for about 10 minutes, we will pass the Drunm Tower Bridge. Upon arrival at the Drum Tower Station (subway line 2), we will turn left and bike nothwards along Gulouwai Avenue. Keep riding about 15 minutes, we will reach Anhua Bridge.
After passing Anhua Bridge, we will see the China Science and Technology Museum lying on the left side of Beichen Road. It’s a major science museum established in 1998. The museum contains two separate buildings, Hall I & II. The Hall I exhibits ancient Chinese technology such as astronomical devices, the compass, gunpowder, bronze smelting, and so forth. Hall II displays topics concerning astronautics, energy, communications; material science and mechanics; information technology; life science; and environmental science. If you would like to pay a visit, please kindly pay the entrance tickets onsite directly.
Keep riding along the Beichen Road, we will reach the Beijing Yuan Dynasty Capital City Wall after 10 minutes. It’s the largest linear park in Beijing built on the city wall relics of the Yuan Dynasty.
Bird Nest: The Beijing National Stadium, also known as the "Bird's Nest", is located at the southern part of the Olympic Green in Beijing, in the northeast of the city. As the main stadium for the 29th Olympiad in 2008, the National Stadium covers an area of 258,000 square meters (64 acres) and accommodates a maximum of 91,000 spectators with a permanent capacity of 80,000.
Water Cube: The Beijing National Aquatics Center, also known as the Water Cube, is an aquatics center that was built alongside Beijing National Stadium in the Olympic Green For the swimming competitions of the 2008 Summer Olympics.
After visiting the Olympic site, we will proceed to ride along the Kehui Road. Turning left at the first cross to the Beichen West Road. After 30 minutes ride, we will corss the Beichen Road and then find the China Nationalities Museum on the right side.
China Nationalities Museum, also known as Chinese Ethnic Culture Park, lies in the southern section of the Olympic Park. It’s a large culture base combining an introduction of culture, singing and dancing performances, traditional housing and art.
We will follow the original route back to Desheng Gate.
